On Dec 3, 2011, three members of OWS began a hunger strike at Duarte Square - a privately owned vacant park belonging to Trinity Church that could be utilized as a space for community organizing and empowerment. Before they set up encampment, they announced their strike during Occupy to Celebrate at Zucotti Park, along with fellow speakers and supporters of a new space at Duarte Square.
