East Indians are a mix of Indo Aryan and Australoid(or sometimes called Negrito). Australoid people are the indigenous people of India and they are closely related to the Aborigines of Australia. 4000 years ago, a bunch of nomadic tribes known as Indo Aryans from the Middle east or Central Asia came to India and mixed with the Australoids forming the East Indians or desi people that you see today. Indians are Hindu, Buddhist or Sikh and India is not located in the Middle east. India is not a muslim country either(Not that muslims are bad). According to the caste system of India, Indians who belong to the low caste have more Australoid blood in them and Indians who belong to the upper caste have more Middle eastern/Central Asian in them. Middle easterners are olive skinned.

Any ethnic group that is mixed is not considered a "race". For example, Hispanic/Latino aka Latin American is not a race either because they are a mix of Spaniard(people from Spain) and Native American. Many were a result of rape and many were intermarriages. FYI, Native American belong to the Asian race(ie, Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, Vietnamese etc). Not all Hispanics are Mexican, there are Colombians, Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, Venezuelans etc.
The below listed ethnicities are not considered a race either since they are mixed.
1) Egyptians are Afro arab (a mix of African and Arab)
2) Brazilians are triracial (they are a mix of Portugese, Native American and Black)
3) Afghans are a mix of Persian and Mongol except for Pashtuns/Pathans who are just related to Persians. Afghanistan is very near to China.
4) Some Arabs from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Yemen are mixed with Australoid especially the ones that live in the desert(Bedouins). So, they tend to be darker. But, Most Arabs are just pure olive skinned Semites and they belong to the Semitic race. To avoid confusion, Arabs are people from Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Dubai and Qatar.
5) SOME Italians from Sicily and Spaniards from Southern Spain are mixed with the Moors of North Africa. Moors invaded Sicily and ruled Spain for 800 yrs.
6) Russian and Turkish people are Eurasian(a mix of European and Asian)
