When Jasmine, an African American woman asked me "What do Asians do when they see each other?", my costar Nikki and I immediately looked at each other, smiled, and simultaneously said "It's a smile!" We even laughed the same way. It was bizarre. Since then I started noticing just how often I DO smile at other Asian people and feel a familiarity with them. Though this happens with other things as well (i.e. wearing things from the same fandom), it was an interesting revelation.
