soda can stirling engine - 860 rpm
Bookmarked 534 weeks ago it039s more interesting if you advance past the 2:00 minute mark this is my second attempt at a simple soda can engine it will run slowly on one or two tea candles but on an alcohol flame as i show in this video it really flies and i039ve clocked it at 860 rpm the displacer is actually a moving regenerator a single piece of steel wool trimmed and shaped to fit the soda can and held in place with perforated bottoms from other soda cans the diaphragm is made of bicycle inner tube rubber the bottom of a soda can a bottle cap and a 15quot pvc cap trimmed down a bit it039s attached to the cylinder can with a 12quot pvc elbowthe crank is of 18quot stainless steel rod the flywheel is the lid from a paint can counterweights are magnets from old hard drives the smokestack is made from a rolled-up soda can i used some aluminum foil tape to hold things togetheri found it a bit difficult to get the thing balanced and it039s still not quite right but at least it doesn039t jump around too terribly even at high rpm039s a lot of fun to build and even more to run |

Bookmarked 744 weeks ago this model of stephenson039s steam engine was made in 2008 by master glassblower michal zahradnkhighlights: the crankshaft is glass the piston is glass the counterweight that makes the wheel spin evenly is glass imagine that everything is made out of glass there are no sealants used all is accomplished by a perfectly snug fit the gap between the piston and its compartment is so small that the water that condensates from the steam seals it shut notice the elaborate excessive steam exhaust system next to the piston the piston is the most arduous part to make due to to extreme level of precision needed its parts have to be so accurate that no machinery is of use here the piston and its cylinder must be hand sanded to perfection and they are very likely to crack in the process on average three out of four crack |

Bookmarked 499 weeks ago 3d printed subaru ej20 boxer engineit039s fully functional as in all parts move as intended in the real thing do not confuse it with a real engine as this is not it is a modelthis engine is slightly harder to print and assemble than my toyota 22re engine so it is best to print or familiarize yourself with my previous models if you choose to print this one the scale is once again 35 of the original which seems to be a good size for printing and finding fasteners that work and look right the tolerances are a little tighter and depending on your printer the crankshaft might take some tweaking to get it right so that there is not interference while rotatingthis model has smaller engine block than the toyota 22re which will allow smaller printers to print itfind all the files to print your own on thingiversehttp:wwwthingiversecomthing:1643878 |
