are you making the mistake of confusing pleasure with happiness want more inspiration visit http:advancedmindpowertrainingcom for free mind power training videos condition your mind to perform at your bestpleasure does not equal happinessi want to talk to you today about the difference between happiness and pleasure whybecause i find myself dealing with a lot of emails and speaking with a lot of my coaching clients and making this distinction over and over again that pleasure does not equal happinessyou can never get enough of what you don039t really want let me use an analogy to bring to help make this point i would like you to imagine that one day your taste buds want something sweet so you head over to the fridge open it and pull out your bar of chocolate you break off a couple of chunks believing that will be enoughquotso you eat the couple of chunks and really enjoy the taste but its not long before you experience that craving for another couple of chunks then another couple of chunks then another couple of chunks before you know it the whole bar is goneof course we justify and rationalize eating the whole bar but fundamentally we have just eaten a little more chocolate than we really should have done the craving got the better of us can you relate to thati know i can contrast with our banana let039s say that you head over to the fruit bowl and rather than the chocolate bar you get yourself a banana and after you039ve peeled and eaten the banana what happens do you crave another banana straightaway do you find yourself hanging around the fruit bowl hovering over the next banana no usually one banana is all it takes one banana is enough because the banana is more nutritional it contains magnesium potassium fiber and other goodies the body needs once eaten the body is more fulfilled and doesn039t crave anything elseso how does that equate to the difference between pleasure and happiness well the feeling of pleasure is a bit like the sugar in the chocolate bar eating a bar of chocolate give us a sugar high the feeling of pleasure is really good at feeding the body and the ego whereas the feeling of happiness is more like the banana it039s more nutritious and it feeds the soul just as the body can never get enough of what it doesn039t want high sugar foods and empty calories our soul can039t get enough of what it doesn039t really want purely pleasure seeking activities how to know the differencelet me share three distinctions to really explore at the difference between pleasure and happiness1 pleasure tends to be more of an external experience it is more of an outside in experience we experience it through our five senses what we see what we hear what we touch what we taste and what we smell whereas happiness tends to be more of an inside out experience2 pleasure is more of an event - people things places and activities whereas happiness is more a state of mind happiness is more a way of being 3 pleasure tends to be very temporary it is here and then it is gone just like that sugar hit we get from chocolate we get the buzz and then it is gone whereas happiness tends to be much deeper longer lasting and more fulfillingwhy do we chase pleasurewhy do so many people think that pleasure is happiness and make the mistake of pursuing it rather than pursuing happiness good question well firstly is quick and easy to do a few beers with some mates and i039m experiencing the lovely feeling of pleasure now there039s nothing wrong in that nothing wrong with experiencing a healthy dose of pleasure like that a life well lived will necessitate feelings of pleasure the danger is when we pursue it with energy and vigor believing that path alone is going to bring us happiness because its not it039s pleasure it039s not happinesswhereas moving along the happiness path takes a personal investment it takes work to really figure out what our own individual definition of happiness is to heal any emotional wounds that bind us to the past and find ways to express the deeper aspects of who we are and live our happiness blueprint more on this in a minutethe second big reason we chase pleasure is because of the three m039s the movie makers hollywood the media and the marketeers the three m039s combined are a powerful influencing body they do a wonderful job of conditioning us that the feeling of pleasure is the way to happiness just think of how many adverts bombard us every single day basically telling us buy this car holiday house clothing gadget and you039re going to be happy the marketeers do a wonderful job of keeping that illusion alive our culture conditions us day-in and day-out to believe that this is where happiness lies you follow this path pleasure and you039re going to arrive at this place called happiness and we all fall for ithttp:youtubegzrz1riople
