is he an assholethats the question everyone asks about sex toy entrepreneur brian sloan its the question that inspired our video crew to follow him around for a week in berlin it was also the last question i asked him during our interviewhis answer was no but came with a concession quotits not completely inaccurate to call me an assholequot surely working in the sex toy industry doesnt automatically designate a person an asshole but then not every sex toy manufacturer uses a contest to design their products more specifically an online vaginal beauty contest that prompted everyday women to upload pictures of their vulvas to be rated on a scale of 1-10 http:wwwvaginacontestcomits a concept that -- critics would argue -- quite literally objectifies womenbrian sees it differently quotthey didnt call it sexist when dildos were made from mens penisesquot fair point except while dildos were fashioned after actual dicks actual dicks werent acquired via contests but if they had would it have improved the productbrians contest was designed to determine which vulvas men preferred the guidelines had one major qualifier: no pubic hair to be fair this was more of a parameter than an indictment of misogyny the scanning machine required a smooth texture but it inherently restricted the resultsit was also the only rule in an otherwise lucid submission process which simply required an applicant to post a picture with a piece of paper displaying autoblowvaginalbeautycontest such a casual approach resulted in a pretty big surprise the day of the scanning -- one of the finalists actually fabricated her submissionthe thing is the results were irrelevant by simply creating the contest brian sloan had over a million people clicking through his website the traffic nearly crashed its servers publications like the daily beast and the gloss were deriding the contest as sexist but even its staunchest critics conceded its brilliance as a marketing ployultimately brian is less a sex expert than a businessman -- albeit a businessman in an industry where its not uncommon to lunch with a giant dildo on the table perhaps years in an industry where day-to-day operations are centered around subjects generally considered taboo would shift anyone039s perception of normalcy it would be accurate to describe a man who uses deli meat to describe a vulva as a misogynist with brian maybe he039s a weird guy in a weird industrybut is he an asshole i guess i agree with brian: no but it wouldnt be completely inaccurate to call him onesubscribe now for more videos from elite daily: http:wwwyoutubecomsubscription_centeradd_user=elitedailycheck out more insights from elite daily: https:wwwyoutubecomplaylistlist=plidtvip4b7ef2_a6dcugvugxwzjxovcbwproducer: shawn hazelett amp max grunnerdirector of photography: terence mf thomas amp kevin losanieditor: john stish amp kevin losaniasst editor: sammy dane amp isabella romanfinishing editor: evan newmanmotion graphics: oliver dudman amp sergio calderonsenior producer: kevin losanihttp:wwwelitedailycomfacebook: https:wwwfacebookcomelitedailyvideosref=page_internaltwitter: http:twittercomelitedailyinstagram: http:instagramcomelitedailyg: https:plusgooglecomelitedailywhat is elite dailywe proclaim ourselves to be the voice of generation-y and never disappointas the premier online destination for aspiring men and women alike elite offers a forum of peer-to-peer interaction in an increasingly digitalized world the site consistently delivers diverse content with a fresh relevant voice that appeals to the divergent perspectives represented within our add generationfor all video inquires contact: videocontact elitedailycomhttp:wwwyoutubecomelitedaily
world039s first sunset hyperlapse from an airplane - 4k ultrahd - tjoezcom

a hyperlapse is not the same as a timelapse they are the same basic principle however they employ a different type of shootingread about how i did it on my blog here: http:bitly1g95r4yquotthe sound of your shutter clicking is annoying the people around youquot- quoti know i don039t care at the moment i039m shooting some absolutely unique footagequotlast week i was lucky enough to shoot the world039s first sunset hyperlapse sequence from an airplane here039s how i did itlet me start off by saying that cinema-productions have been shooting similar looking footage for years the difference here however is that i shot this footage using the hyperlapse technique that039s been making the rounds on the internet for the past two years or soa hyperlapse is a special photography technique where you take a series of photos with similar framing while physically moving inbetween every shot after stabilizing the footage with special software you quite literally in this case get a flight through time and space because you039re shooting at a slower framerate than the usual 242530 frames per second the rendered video will show the world in fastforwardanother advantage: as i039m shooting stills not video i039m able to create ultra high definition video files with resolutions greater than 5klast week i was about to fly back from coolangata airport gold coast australia to sydney when i noticed the sun was about to set with some great cloud coverage knowing that i039d have a big chance of shooting some great stills i loaded up my canon 5d mkiii with a fresh battery and two empty memory cards ready to shoot lens of choice was the canon 24-105l great focal range and incredibly useful built in stabilisationduring take-off i could see beautiful 039god rays039 forming sunlight shooting through the clouds creating golden rays of light and got very excited a few minutes later i ended up with this photo http:bitly1dooyu8 have a look at the full gallery of stills here: http:bitly1ct0grvthis was only the beginning20 minutes later the clouds were looking great from 30000 feet up in the air and i decided to try out some hyperlapse sequences by setting my camera to drive-mode and shooting continuous stills what i was able to shoot next was unique and incredibly exciting to capturethe plane angled itself towards the setting sun i had just shot a number of cloud sequences where you can actually see the light changing gradually as the sun was getting closer and closer towards the edge of the clouds at the horizon right when the climax was about to happen i was able to compose a frame where the planes wing wasn039t visible and i had a clear line of sight of the sun going downholding the camera very very still controlling my breathing and annoying everyone around me with my fast paced shutter firing i knew i was in the process of capturing a world039s firsttechnical details:shot with a canon 5d mkiii body and 24-105l lens sandisk extreme sd and cf cardsstabilized in adobe after effects edited in final cut pro x 101i039m a professional timelapse and hyperlapse photographer that loves to travel i currently live in sydney australia working on a bunch of cool projects with a bunch of amazing peoplemy social media pages:website: http:wwwbitly1hyhnwofacebook: http:wwwonfbme1fzamz7google plus: http:wwwplusgooglecom matthewvandeputtetwitter: http:wwwbitly1fzas2tinstagram: http:wwwbitly1fzax6btumblr: http:wwwbitly1fzabmsfor licensing inquiries please use the contact form on my website http:bitly1hyhnwo

woven bark fiber

woven bark fibrei made a rough type of textile from bark fibre this is the same tree i use for making cordage though i dont know its name it has been raining a lot here lately the video also shows how well the hut stands up to rain and this caused a large wattle tree to fall down taking a few smaller trees with it one of the trees was the type i use for fibre so i stripped the bark from it and divided it into thinner strips back at the huti spun the fibre strips into a rough yarn using a drop spindle the drop spindle was basically the spindle and fly wheel i used in the pump drill video i made a while ago a small stick was tied to the top of the drop spindle to act as a hook to make sure the fibres spun i tied bark strips to the spindle and spun the spindle so it twisted the strip when one strip ran out a new strip was added and twisted into the threadi then made a loom by hammering stakes into the ground and lashing cross bars to it stakes were hammered into the ground to hold every first

the secrets of quantum physics episode 1 einstein039s nightmare bbc documentary 2014

the secrets of quantum physics episode 1 einstein039s nightmare bbc documentary 2014professor jim al-khalili traces the story of arguably the most important accurate and yet perplexing scientific theory ever - quantum physicsthe story starts at the beginning of the 20th century with scientists trying to better understand how light bulbs work this simple question led them deep into the hidden workings of matter into the sub-atomic building blocks of the world around us here they discovered phenomena unlike any encountered before - a realm where things can be in many places at once where chance and probability call the shots and where reality appears to only truly exist when we observe italbert einstein hated the idea that nature at its most fundamental level is governed by chance jim reveals how in the 1930s einstein thought he039d found a fatal flaw in quantum physics because it implies that sub-atomic particles can communicate faster than light in defiance of the theory of relativityfor thirty years his ideas were ignored then in the 1960s a brilliant scientist from northern ireland called john bell showed there was a way to test if einstein was right and quantum mechanics was actually mistaken in a laboratory in oxford jim repeats this critical experiment - does reality really exist or do we conjure it into existence by the act of observationthe results are shocking
bill nye039s answer to the fermi paradox

the fermi paradox states that since there are nearly endless chances for life to evolve in the universe civilizations must occur in some of those instances but to date there have been no signs of these civilizations bill nye has a simple yet hopeful answer to the mysteryread more at bigthinkcom: http:googlo8urfollow big think here:youtube: http:googlcptsv5facebook: https:wwwfacebookcombigthinkdotcomtwitter: https:twittercombigthinktranscript: for those of you who for some reason are not obsessed with the fermi paradox enrico fermi posed the following the same guy with the nuclear reactor in chicago and all that posed the following question if there are alien worlds as you might claim since there are billions of stars in billions of galaxies you would expect billions of planets and then youd expect a few millions of earth-like planets where why havent we heard from these other civilization and the answer i think is not that complicated weve only been listening for other civilizations for 50 years 70 years it depends on how you count and you have to acknowledge that civilizations have to emerge and be able to communicate at the same time when you have something thats been going on for 136 billion years theres a lot of opportunities to miss each other so the fermi paradox for me is not a reason to give up and take the black capsule and have no hope for humankind because we are just this unique thing in the middle of nowhere and will never amount to anything no for me the fermi paradox drives us forward why havent we heard from anybody because were not listening hard enough were not being diligent enough were not thinking it through well enough so we at the planetary society support the of course support the search for extraterrestrial intelligence but the search for extraterrestrial intelligence in the optical bandwidths in what you and i call visible lightand as you may know nasa is doing these tests using laser communication in other words instead of sending radio signals with wavelengths the size of this room and so information packets spread out over the size of this room youd use light waves where the information packets are just a few hundred billionths of a meter long and so you can get a lot more its fiber optic you get a lot more the comparison of fiber optic with traditional copper wire you get a lot more information a lot more bandwidth so who knows maybe the aliens are sending us optical signals and we missed the point come on one way to be sure you never hear from another civilization and realize or validate fermis paradox is to not listen so this to me is an obligation of a civilization of a civilized society is to prevent is to present or to allocate just a little of our intellect and treasure to the search for extraterrestrial life because theres two questions that get every one of us where did we come from where did we come from and thats by the way what the rosetta mission is working on its going to a comet which is part of the seems to be and is certainly part of the primordial solar system so by understanding that well understand more about where we all came from and the second question is are we alone could we possibly be alone in the universe and to answer those questions you have to explore space thats what we do at the planetary society did i mention that planetaryorg did i bring us up thank youdirectedproduced by jonathan fowler elizabeth rodd and dillon fitton
