worlds largest steam locomotive is back big boy 4014 hits the main line

they said it couldn039t be done it was too heavy too long it burned too much fuel and would cost too much to restore but they were wrong union pacific big boy 4014 now holds the title of the worlds largest operating steam locomotive this locomotive underwent a frame up rebuild and is now better than new this was a big day for the 4014 it was the first time it was taken out of the yard and onto the main line since this was a break in run the locomotive is not working very much at all just a bit of throttle to keep the pistons lubricated the locomotive made frequent stops to check bearings and rods for overheating as expected there was some minor issues including leaking packing from both front cylinder rods however this is a fairly easy fix no major problems were reportedwe see the locomotive leave the east end of the cheyenne yard as a freight train passes then the locomotive stops at the west end of the yard to lubricated the side rods then it leaves cheyenne and makes another st
primitive technology: a frame hut

i built an a frame hut as a large work space for projects first i made a celt hatchet to cut timber for the hut the axe head was made of amphibolite and the handle was made of a species of wattle for the hut the floor plan was 4 x 4m the height of the ridgeline was 2 m above the ground a post was planted in the ground to support the ridge pole at the back of the structure and an a frame was put in the front to support the ridgeline the rafters of the hut were then attached to the ridgepole palm fronds were then collected split and lashed to this frame the dome hut was disassembled and its thatch was added to the structure approximately 1200 fronds were used in total for the ridgeline thatch was lifted in place and rested on without lashing it down instead pairs of sticks lashed together were lifted in place sitting over thatch preventing it from blowing away these are known as jockeys as they resemble a rider sitting on a horsea wall of wattle and daub was built at the back of the stru

bus crashes into man who then gets up and walks into pub

bus crashes into man as he crosses road - then he gets up and walks into puba man lucky to be alive after a bus ploughed into him didn039t let his traumatic experience get in the way of his trip to the pubsimon smith was crossing the road in reading when the out of control public transport vehicle veered off the main road and straight into himin the clip mr smith is hit from behind and the impact smashes the windscreen of the bus and throws him off to the side of the paththe bus also manages to clip one of the nearby shops sending debris flying into the streetncredibly the bus still doesn039t stop but thankfully steers away from mr smith as he lies on the pavementafter just a few seconds he pulls himself back to his feet and walks straight into the purple turtle pub appearing to have suffered little injury as a result of the crashaccording to the bbc mr smith suffered only minor injuries and said he feels quotlucky to be alivequotdaniel fraifeld 50 who co-owns the pu

the dakota fire hole - stealth fire

what if i told you that you could make a fire that only you could see any passers-by will be totally oblivious to the presence of you and your fire if you want to get into stealth camping build a fire during gale force winds or just want to lay low then the 039dakota fire hole039 is just what you need first things first you039ll need to dig a pretty deep hole about 2 to 3 feet deep is a good standard but the bigger the fire you039re planning to build the deeper and wider you039ll have to dig so its ultimately up to your discretion i039ll be making a small personal fire so i039ll go 2 foot deep and 15 feet wideas long as you go balls deep and don039t be a bitch about it you can get the hole dug in 5 minutes flat i would suggest using some form of entrenching tool you can use a stick and your bare hands but that will take significantly longer and you039ll probably want to kill yourself halfway through out of frustration now step 2 you039ll need to dig a smaller hole about 1 foot away from the first hole you don039t need to dig as deep for this one but a depth of 15 feet is a best practice this hole will connect to the primary hole via a tunnel the purpose of this secondary hole and tunnel is to allow oxygen to flow into the fire as the heat and flames of spewing out of the bigger hole won039t allow any oxygen to enter from above this secondary hole also allows you to blow oxygen into the fire yourself with your breath without risking burning your eyebrows off if you chose to do that over the primary hole keep tunneling your way through until you reach the other sidebut don039t stop there keep digging away at the edges until its big enough for you to fit your arm through like a cheap hooker the bigger the tunnel the more oxygen that can enter meaning a more sustainable firenow that039s all done it039s time to build a fire the same practices of traditional fire making still apply a raised wooden platform to keep your fire off the ground which will burn down into a layer of embers over time utilize dead dry materials that have been hanging above the ground y039all already know the deal make the fire as you would make it on the surface you can fiddle about with the structure of the fire in anyway you see fit make a tipi a perimeter a log cabin build sup to you man if you want to cook over this type of fire then it039s just a simple matter of placing thick living green branches either over the top of the hole or jam them into the side of the walls living green materials won039t burn over the fire so your cookware will be safe to rest upon itthere039s a common misconception that these types of underground fires produce no smoke this isn039t strictly true an underground fire does hotter and more intensely than one that039s exposed to a colder atmosphere on the surface and that does limit its smoke emissions there039s a lot of chemistry involved in explaining why that is so i039ll save that for another video don039t want to go too off track here but if we refer back to the list of smoke generators i included in my signal and rescue video wet materials resinous and green materials will still produce smoke so it039s best to utilize the driest and deadest possible materials you can find if you really want to limit your visibility the smokeless fire pit comes from a rather unique way of building fire we think of fire building as a bottom up process we build a base fire and then add material on top of it for a smokeless fire we need to flip things upside down and have our fuelwood on the bottom with our fire on top the fire on top is started with copious amounts of kindling constantly fed with dry small twigs and dry wood shavings directly on top of the fire which will burn the large pieces of fuelwood below the reason this produces no smoke is because as the air flow from the secondary hole works its way up through the fuel wood it pushes all the gases and vapors which we call smoke which come from the moisture resins and oils contained within the fuelwood the air pushes it up into the hot flames where it burns off because of the heat intensity of underground flames if those gases and vapors didn039t have to travel upwards through the flame like in a traditional fire then you would have a smokey fire when you039re done be a gent and fill the hole back up no need to break people039s ankles as they pass on by in the future peace bros if you desire then you can pack all of the mud you039ve dug up on to the outskirts of your hole to give yourself a large wall to help you conceal the tips of your flames if they ever reach high enough to emerge out of the hole ------------------------------------outdoor skills for wilderness survival bushcraft hiking and recreational campingtwitter: wwwtwittercomalfieaestheticsfacebook: wwwfacebookcomalfietheaestheticgoogle: wwwplusgooglecomalfieaesthetics

how to make budget pizzas with tortilla wraps

written recipe is here:this recipe will make 4 pizzas you will need:4 tortilla wraps1 small onion finely chopped2 cloves of garlic also finely chopped remember the finer you chop garlic the stronger the flavor will be2 tins of chopped tomatos or pizza sauce if you have it chopped tomatos for if you are on a budgeta handful of grated mozzarella slightly less if you have gorilla hands like me if you want an actual measurement then 100g per pizza will do 1 chicken stock cube or a pinch of saltany dry toppings of your choosingoh and you need a frying pan and a saucepan too lets do the sauce first first put a dash of oil into the saucepan and put on a low heat until the oil runs freely then put in your onions and garlic and sweat them for a minute or two to soften them up put in your chopped tomatos and mix evenly with the garlic and onions then raise the heat slightly and simmer for around 20 minutes to reduce the sauce stirring occasionally this is a good time to preheat the oven to 180 celsius which is 350 farenheight or gas mark 4when its almost reduced enough use a potato masher or a fork to crush any larger chunks if you are fortunate enough to have the luxury of a hand blender then use this though if you can afford one of those then you probably wont be making pizzas with fucking tortillas add the stock cube or salt then mix in let it simmer for a few minutes more then take off the heat and let it cool down a bit your sauce shouldn039t have any excess liquid but it should still be thin enough to spread like paste if you039ve ever eaten pizza before then you will know what the consistency of the sauce should be like though so just aim for that next heat the frying pan on a medium heat put some oil onto it and take off the excess with a kitchen towel then put in your tortilla and arrange your pizza in the pan spread the sauce evenly across the tortilla making sure it touches the edges to crisp them then add the cheese and toppings remember not to add too much onto the tortilla as its a tortilla so it is not as strong as a normal pizza base for this reason you should also try and use dry toppings as any excess liquid will make the base go soggykeep on a low heat until the base of the tortilla is browning and the cheese is starting to go soft the pizza should be able to move freely in the pan when its donefinally stick the pizza in the oven until the cheese melts and turns slightly brown then take it out and let it stand for a while just to firm it up then you can cut it up and serve these taste best if you dont think about the fact that you just made a pizza with a tortilla wrap thanks for watching goodbye

iran039s message: we can make history

in the next three weeks we have a unique opportunity to make history: to forge a comprehensive agreement over iran039s nuclear energy program and to end an unnecessary crisis that has distracted us from addressing together our common challenges such as the horrifying events of past few weeks in iraq we could have resolved the nuclear issue in 2005 but then people didn039t believe me when i said that iranians are allergic to pressure the bush administration torpedoed the deal by demanding that we abandon enrichment altogether they then opted for pressure and sanctions for 8 years the sanctions were crippling -- even deadly literally iranian cancer patients could not buy medicine with their own money because banks around the world had been bullied by the us treasury to avoid transferring iranian funds but sanctions did not cripple our nuclear program neither did the murder of our nuclear scientists the sabotage of our nuclear facilities - with potentially disastrous environmental ramifications - or the repeated military threats in fact they achieved exactly the opposite: insisting on no enrichment resulted in a 100-fold increase in our centrifuges: from less than 200 to almost 20000 refusing to sell fuel for our american-built research reactor forced us to produce our own fuel by increasing enrichment levels: from 35 to 20 depriving iranian cancer patients from medical radio-isotopes compelled us to build a heavy water reactor going from an idea then to a full-fledged plant to be commissioned soon and threats to bomb our nuclear facilities out of existence obliged us to build fordow which is protected by our mountainswestern governments cried foul ignoring that they had brought this upon themselves as we approach july 20th i feel compelled to warn again that pursuing a game of chicken in an attempt to extract last minute concessions cannot achieve anything better than what it achieved in 2005 to those who continue to believe that sanctions brought iran to the negotiating table i can only say that pressure has been tried for the past 8 years in fact for the past 35 years it didn039t bring the iranian people to kneel in submission and it will not now nor in the future we still have time to exit this spiral of escalation try mutual respect it workswe are trying to reach a deal not a good deal or a bad deal but a doable and lasting deal and any deal by definition is the outcome of mutual understandingnot imposition by one side or the other we are willing to take concrete measures to guarantee that our nuclear program will always remain peaceful we still have time to put an end to the myth that iran is seeking to build a bomb and we039re backed by over 250 years of non-aggression to substantiate our assertion my government remains committed to ending this unnecessary crisis by july 20th i hope my counterparts are too my name is javad zarif and this is iran039s message
