full performance of the trinidad and tobago steel orchestra and drums performing at the 2007 mini tattoo in edinburgh scotland subscribe to my channel: http:wwwyoutubecomsubscription_centeradd_user=blueorcadigitalwatch this video and more in the 039my videos039 playlist: http:wwwyoutubecomplaylistlist=pluvav2fgllwcqplcwmb_tmcpgagyf8au9edinburgh mini tattoo - trinidad and tobago steel orchestra and drums credits:camera operatoreditordistributor: alan taylor http:wwwyoutubecomuserblueorcadigitalspecial thanks: alan smith edinburgh tattoo marketing managervideo shot on hi8visit my channel for more videos: http:wwwyoutubecomuserblueorcadigitalsubscribe to receive new videos in your feed: http:wwwyoutubecomsubscription_centeradd_user=blueorcadigitalhttp:wwwedintattoocoukin 2007 the organisers of the royal edinburgh military tatttoo staged a mini tattoo for visitors and residents to enjoy who may or may not have managed to get a ticket to the annual event on edinburgh039s castle esplanade the mini tattoo is a 1 hour show featuring performers from the main event at the castle this segment features the trinidad and tobago defence steel orchestra who have visited edinburgh on numerous occasions first in 1997 followed by their welcome second visit in 2000 before returning on demand delighting audiences in 2005 and 2007 2007 was a special year indeed as there was not one but two mini tattoo performances i went to both and filmed at each event this video is an edit of the two where the performances were the same however you will notice that in some of the shots the band wears a light green uniform where other shots show them wearing grey fleeces this was an amusing problem for me in the edit suite where i had to just bare and grim it as i only had one camera filing their performances at any one time i guess they were cold on the second day full mini tattoo 2007 show --the trinidad amp tobago defence steel orchestra and drums is the official army band of the countries of trinidad and tobago islands in the carribean the band039s instruments are known as pans made of old oil barrels to create the pans the upper part of an oil barrel gets chopped off and then is hammered to create indented areas of different sizes it039s a unique instrument as it039s one of the few that creates different sounds within one area of play the pan is known widely for being the nation039s national instrument the trinidad and tobago defence force is the military organisation responsbile for the defense of the twin island republic of trinidad and tobago it consists of the trinidad and tobago regiment the coast guard the air guard and the defence force reserves it was established in 1962 after trinidad and tobago039s independence from britain the ttdf is one of the largest military forces in the english speaking carribean it039s mission is to defend the sovereign good of the republic of trinidad and tobago contribute to the development of the national community and support the state with national objectives the commander in chief of the defence force is the country039s president anthony carmona the trinidad and tobago regiment is the main ground force element of the trinidad and tobago defence force it has around 2000 men and women organised into a regiment headquarters located in port of spain and four battalions the unit has two functions to maintain the internal security of trinidad and tobago and assist with local law enforcement it is also used as one of the main units used in peacekeeping situations from the carribean region the regiment provides the majority of the musicians assigned to the trinidad and tobago defence force steel orchestra which is the world039s first and only military steel band the ttr is structured like a light infantry brigade with a pair of infantry battalions plus engineering and logistic support units the 1st battalion is located at camp ogden long circular road st james while the 2nd battalion is based at the chaguaramas heliport although due to relocate to a new camp in caroni the 3rd battalion of engineers is located at camp cumuto wallerfield finally the 4th battalion consisting of service and support is located at the teteron barracks teterton bay chaguaramas the band has made numerous appearances at events around the world which include the royal edinburgh military tattoo basil tattoo the holland and jamaica military tattoo the band also appeared at a special tattoo organised to take place in australia i love watching and listening to the steel band music if your lucky to see a performance where audience members asked to stand up and dance take part and you039ll have a right laugh the band were also seen at the 2007 edinburgh festival cavalcade an annual parade that takes place in edinburgh alan andrew taylor 2007 -- licensed under creative commons 30 share alike non commercial use
