nasa nasa039s heliophysics fleet captures may 1 2013 prominence eruption and cme
Bookmarked 666 weeks ago on may 1 2013 nasa039s solar dynamics observatory sdo watched as an active regoin just around the left edge of the sun erupted with a huge cloud of plasma this eruption called a coronal mass ejection or cme flung the plasma out through the solar system viewing the sun in the extreme ultraviolet wavelength of 304 angstroms sdo provided a beautiful view of the initial arc as it left the solar surface but the plasma soon left sdo039s field of view fortunately other satellites in nasa039s solar-observing fleet were able to watch it long after it left sdo039s visionone satellite was the esanasa solar and heliospheric observatory soho it houses two overlapping coronagraphs--telescopes where the bright sun is blocked by a disk so that the fainter solar atmosphere is visible--and they both saw the cme continue outward the lasco c2 coronagraph shows the region out to 6 solar radii or about 25 million miles the lasco c3 coronagraph expands even farther out: to 32 solar radii or around 135 million miles both of these instruments help show the cme as it expands and becomes fainter on its trip away from the sunnasa039s solar terrestrial relations observatory stereo ahead satellite saw the eruption from a very different angle it along with its twin stereo behind is traveling around the sun along a line very close to earth039s orbit but not in sync with earth currently stereo-a is more than a third of an orbit ahead of the earth and has a view of the far side of the sun from this perspective the cme came off the right side of the sun stereo has an extreme ultraviolet camera similar to sdo039s but it also has coronagraphs like soho as a result it was able to track the cme from the solar surface out to 15 solar radii or 63 million milesput together these three missions provide excellent coverage of a wide variety of solar events a wealth of scientific data and lots of beautiful imagerythis video is public domain and can be downloaded at: http:svsgsfcnasagovvisa010000a010700a010785like our videos subscribe to nasa039s goddard shorts hd podcast:http:svsgsfcnasagovvisitunesf0004_indexhtmlor find nasa goddard space flight center on facebook:http:wwwfacebookcomnasagsfcor find us on twitter:http:twittercomnasagoddard |

Bookmarked 344 weeks ago broken vise restoration - gressel switzerlandin this video i039m restoring a broken swiss viselike comment subscribei bought this vise from a friend for 20 it was super rusty and dirty one part was missing two screws were broken off and the movable jaw was completely stuck gressel is very well known in switzerland for making very good if not the best vises that fact made it absolutely worth to restore it they still produce this type of vise today they just made some very small changes over the years i found out that they built their vises in this style until 1991 so it039s at least 27 years old it had the rough jaws on but you could always choose if you want them with rough or flat jaws when you buy a new one i039m not a fan at all of the rough jaws because they ruin every surface of clamped pieces so i decided to put flat jaws on i still restored the rough ones and i039m going to keep them i restored this vise for myselfi hope you like my work and the videotimes |

Bookmarked 561 weeks ago this was filmed on my 3rd dive of the day in while out shooting lionfish for grills seafood i was in 90ft approx 25 miles se of port canaveral when i first saw the shark it was on bottom and slowly swimming south i then see it pass by headed north a minute later it swims by a third time and after it swam out of sight i decide its time to head up to get the gopro my friend tosses me the gopro and as i proceed to make my way back to the jug on the surface the shark makes a surprise appearance behind me i would have never seen the shark behind if it wasn039t for my friends yelling at me to turn around the water was crystal clear for here so its amazing to me how incredible these large creatures are at staying in your blind spot sorry for the video quality was holding onto a gun pole spear and bag with lionfish fins poking through and trying not to drop anythingto use this video in a commercial player or in broadcasts please email licensingstoryfulcom |
