my second attempt at capturing the amazing sundew drosera capensis eating a fly in this case the video was much better quality than the previous one as i set the camera to manual focus so it always had the same leaf in its best focusthe reason for the change of brightness was due to the sun constantly appearing and dissapearing good old british weatherthe video is a good demonstration as to how the tentacles on the plant move inwards to pin down the insect and hold it in the middle of the leafenjoy :

this is v838 monocerotis v838 mon for short it is a red super giant star coords lat -3823433 lon -73978235 in the constellation of monoceros almost half way in between sirius and procyon recently the star flared up bursting out with a bright light almost like a nova light from the star radiated in all directions so the light from the star itself reached our eyes first as the light travelled away from the star in all directions like ripples in a pond it encountered dust and gas in space months and even years after leaving the star as it struck these clouds it then reflected light which we were then able to see the same number of months or years later the effect called light echoes is like a ripple in a pond as it expands we see it grow into a larger and larger ring this video combines several photographs of this even taken by the hubble space telescope from eary 2002 until 2006 into a nice time lapse of the eventaccompanying the video is a musical score from the amazing mychal danna which appeared in the mclaughlin planetarium presentation of planets stars and galaxieshttp:wwwward-studioscom preview demos of all my albums read about and purchase my albums sign the guestbook participate in the message forums

i first became aware of michael levin039s photographs in 2010 his photographs of everyday places and common subjects are transformed into something much more when he views them through his lensabsolutely stunning being that a large majority of michael039s work is done in japan i instantly had a connection to it as i too have a bond with japan and have traveled and documented the landscape extensively in my own way after watching my film hayaku http:vimeocom12112529 michael contacted me regarding a project he was working on and felt it might be of interest to me he told me that he really appreciated my work and recognized the dedication and effort that went into it i agreed to go on a trip with him to japan and work on his project but for me there was a greater opportunity at hand we had several conversations and i gave him some ideas about expanding the project and he really took to it a month later and we were in japan having beers and sushi i wanted to document michael at work in japan in a way that hasn039t really been explored with photographers i told michael of my idea to make an artistic representation of his experiences in the land of the rising sun - to show him in his working environment in a way that complimented his work not to explain it with words but to feel it through the flow of the film i wanted to show the process the journey the adventure in a way that would give the viewer an emotional connection to michael and his photography the final result is something that i think is truly original something that showcases who michael is and more importantly what his work is all about this film is a collaboration between michael and i and our love for photography film japan and adventure this is a subject that michael and i are continuing to explore as we plan more trips together more films and more adventures i hope you enjoymichael will be conducting a photography workshop in brighton uk this septemberplease email infomichaellevinca for all the detailswwwmichaellevincawwwbradkremerfilmscombradbradkremerfilmscomfilmed with:canon 5dmkiidynamic perceptions dollymusic:artist- ryksoppsong- ryksopp foreverplease watch with good speakers or headphones
