Bookmarked 761 weeks ago on the 21st of may 2011 nairang gallery is hosting a mughal mix media arts exhibition dating back centuries with roots stemming from central asia the mughals settled and travelled through the indian subcontinent leaving a fascinating piece of history to cherish in fact it was the artist039s travels to central asian countries that led to the inspiration behind this exhibition awed by our own part in mughal history the artist tries to capture bits and pieces of early mughal life on the canvas-using a variety of mix media tools such as water and oil colors acrylics collage and block printing in creating six to eight layers that tell the story of our past each layer carries with it a completely unique set of imagery pictures calligraphy collage and colors all work together to bring about the final effect animal imagery is used by the artist to depict the importance of the elephant horse and camel for transport and sustenance in mughal life calligraphy emphasizes the importance of persian script and poetry while war-like images are used to depict the harsh history of the mughals as conquerorsthe mughals were an amazing part of our culture and this exhibition is a great combination of art and history together serving as an eye piece to the remains of our past |
