after taking anatomytoolscom human anatomy: level 1 class i was challenged by maestro andrew cawrse to begin practicing sculptures start-to-finish in 3 hours here we go another sculpture of a figure about to leap into the air i used more photo reference which helped out a ton on this piece and tried to actually stand in the pose while working on it i noticed a problem with the gluteus maximus muscles i was sculpting in this piece but it039s something i039ve been making a mistake on this whole time the peak of the butt is near the bottom of the muscle where the cheeks join and i039ve been leaving this piece of clay on the gluts so the peak ends up being more near the sides or outside edges of the hip area something to fix next timehad more time to put in the serratus muscles this time that felt good and added a lot to the overall look of the piece i tried using ball bearings in place of eyes and then wrapping clay around them to form eyelids and that worked out really well i c
